O professor Satish Kandlikar, um dos pesquisadores mais proeminentes na área de Transferência de Calor, ligado ao Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), apresentará no dia 28 deste mês, a partir das 15 horas, uma palestra sobre inovação, a ser realizada no anfiteatro Anfiteatro Armando Toshio Natsume do Departamento de Engenharia Elétrica.
A palestra é dirigida principalmente a alunos de pós-graduação, pós-doutorandos e docentes em início de carreira.
Kandlikar está em visita à EESC, a convite do Grupo de Pesquisa em Transferência de Calor do Departamento de Engenharia Mecânica.
Sobre o palestrante
Satish Kandlikar is working in diverse areas including pool and flow boiling, water management in fuel cells and breast cancer detection. Innovation and creativity are the hallmarks of his team which has presented novel ways to improve performance in these fields. He has published over 400 research papers and graduated 15 PhD students and over 100 MS student in a career spanning over 40 years. The talk will is aimed at developing a new insight among the students and researchers to develop a highly productive innovative work environment. He has received numerous awards including the coveted ASME Heat Transfer Memorial Award.
Resumo
Innovation leads to transformative changes in the technological advancements. Diverse solutions emerge a group of individuals having little expertise or experience in the field. Some of these solutions open an entirely new pathway sets a new paradigm. For researchers, innovation is the backbone of their endeavor in any field; science, medicine, and engineering have provided valuable solutions through innovative breakthroughs. Our knowledge elevates our understanding while an innovative burst takes us to a whole new level. For students and researchers, it simply starts with an eagerness to excel! The talk will present several examples in the speaker's career to illustrate that the ideas unrelated fields or our daily experiences can bring about dramatic realization on how things can be accomplished in a totally different way. The talk will highlight how to listen to yourself and others in upgrading your work through innovation.
