Computer rooms


The EESC provides computer rooms that offers infrastructure to teach engineering disciplines and supply for academics activities, with internet access which is made through a private network, managed by several servers. The rooms currently counts with more than 200 computers, multimedia projector and printer.


Localization and purpose of the rooms


STI Building

The computer rooms are located in the Computers Technique Section (STI, in portuguese) building. This local is used for teach regulars disciplines of engineering courses, as well offer support for academic events (with prior authorization of EESC Direction). These rooms need reserves pre-scheduled by Graduation Section.


Joint Building STI (beside CETEPE)

Use purpose: internet access, searching, working and printing.

These rooms don´t need previous reserve.

Pro-Student Room/EESC – 30 computers.

GRAD-04 Room – 23 computers

GRAD-05 Room – 23 computers


Area 2 - Environmental Engineering Building

Use purpose: internet acces, searching, working and printing.

This room don't need previous reserve.

EESC has a library which facilitates the acces on information, teaching, searching and extension.


Acctually it counts with more than 65.000 books, 7.900 teses and almost 4.000 periodics titles.


Operating hours:

Monday to Friday - 8h to 22h

Saturdays - 8h to 12h

Vacations: Monday to Friday, from 8h to 18h


Sports and Recreation


The campus´s population may use the infrastructure and enjoy activities offered by the Physical Education, Sports and Recreation Center (CEFER, in portuguese). It has five courts, two swimming pools, gym and a soccer field. It also has a gymnasium with multisports court, with the capacity for 1300 persons, and a ballroom with 1405 m2. There are more than 15 modalities of physical activities, some gave in partnership with the Atletic Academic Association of the Academic Center of the Campus, the Atlética - CAASO. 


The biggest sport event promoted by CEFER is the USP-São Carlos Tour, a running competition that takes place annually through the city streets and counts with the presence of the USP community, as well the local community and also athletes of several parts of country. Atlética CAASO also make some students competitions like TUSCA (UniversityTournament) and the Inter-freshman Games, that combines sport competition and socializing.


Cultural Center


Created in 1989, the Cultural Center offers cultural and artistics activities to the campus and to external comunity. Among them, there are monthly exhibition of plastic arts, musical shows, language courses for students, employees and third age community, beyond workshops.

Monthly, the Cultural Center does at the central area of the campus the Project "Music on the Square", in order to offer good music in the lunch hours.


Center of Scientific and Cultural Difusion


The Center of Scientific and Cultural Difusion (CDCC, in portuguese) belongs to USP and it is linked to the Cultural and Extramural Pro-Rectory, to the São Carlos Institute of Physics and to the São Carlos Institute of Chemistry. It's main goal is to establish a permanent link between the University and the society, facilitating the population access to the paths and results of scientific and cultural production of the University. The CDCC cineclub promotes movie sessions on Saturdays, at 20h and the entrance is free.

          ·Astronomical Observatory


With the goal of spread themes related to Astronomy and stimulate the observation and the astronomical phenomenon studies, the CDCC has an Astronomy Sector with auditorium, instrumental rooms and telescopes like Grubb 200/3000 Refractor, Newtonian-Dobsonian 254/1130 Refractor and Zeiss 63/840 Refractor.


Visits on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, from 20h to 22h.


Academic Center - CAASO


The student representative organ of whole undergraduate students of USP São Carlos is the biggest academic center in Latin America, the Academic Center “Armando de Salles Oliveira”, better known as CAASO. It was founded on april 22th of 1953 by the first class of students, and received this name in honour to São Paulo State governor that created the University of São Paulo. 


CAASO has non-cientific library with plus than 20.000 books, besides magazines, journals, comics, CDs and DVDs. There’s also the Social Hall, used for classes, meetings, discussions, and parties. CAASO offers courses of capoeira, ballroom dancing, juggling, theatre, among others. It has also a games hall with table tenis, foosball and football button.


Inside CAASO you can find a copy center, a stationer, a utility store and a lunch spot that offers their services to the students. It is in this build that also stays the university restaurant, this one maintened by the USP administration.

Bus Service


The campus has two areas that stay 5.5 km of distance of each other. To provide easy access between two areas is offered a exclusive bus line to the USP community all day. You can check the schedules here.




The EESC-USP has 2500 undergraduate students and 1200 graduate. It offers 10 undergraduate programs, nine graduate programs and over 100 lines of research.


Besides the EESC, the Campus São Carlos of USP has four other colleges in the areas of architecture and urbanism, mathematics and computing, physics and chemistry.


São Carlos is known as the Capital of Technology. It is a medium-sized city with 220 thousand inhabitants and it is located in the center of São Paulo State (235 km from the capital city).
