Congratulations to All
10/20/2008

Firstly, the EESC-USP Team of Aerodesign would like to congratulate all the organizing committee and all the teams that participated in the 10th SAE Brazil AeroDesign Competition. The 2008 edition of the Brazilian competition brought together 70 teams being eight teams from Venezuela and two from Mexico. Once again, the competition demonstrated the high quality level of the designs and the great creativity of the designers.

On the first day of the competition, Thursday, our three teams made their oral presentations. On the next day, first day of flight rounds, all our aircrafts were classified on their first flights. With this, there was no need to fly in the second or the third round, and that allowed us a little more interaction with the other teams. As an example, the Miss AeroDesign 2008 Contest and the One Leg Race were both organized in conjunction with Zebra Team form the UNESP of Ilha Solteira and counted on the participation of members from almost all other teams.

Saturday ended with the 42.5 pounds flight of team Charlie, this flight was important for ensuring proper placement in the open class. Sunday began, however, with the loss of an aircraft from team Alpha. Nevertheless, the team tried, until the end of the competition, to perform a flight to increase the scoring with its spare aircraft. Team Bravo also had its hardships. The beginners faced many adversities due to lack of experience in the competition and were stopped only by the fall of their airplane. Yet the day ended in celebration, with the unladen flight of the Charlie aircraft, the team won its third Brazilian title on the open class (this not including all the honorable mentions for the open class: greater accuracy, greater payload, best oral presentation and best project).

Overall, the Brazilian Competition of 2008 has also been very fruitful in terms advertising. The competition counted with live broadcasts on TV Vanguarda (regional broadcaster of Rede Globo) and with an excellent report on the program A Noite e uma Crianca from Rede Bandeirantes, it was also very well covered by the photographers of the Companhia de Imprensa and of other aviation enthusiasts. Finally, it is with great pride that the team ends another year with the right to represent the country, along with the teams from UFMG and from the Polytechnic School of USP, in the SAE International AeroDesign East Competition of 2009.
